Empowering people through Graduate Programs & Innovation Training - because extraordinary results begin with extraordinary thinking.

Your graduates are taking too long to become productive employees. Have you noticed?
Chances are, you haven't.

Is your business always rushing to solutions, but *you can't seem to solve the problem?
It happens everywhere! The need for action outweighs the need for thinking, and this is where it's leading you...
Graduates don’t speak up. Mentors are stretched too thin to see it.
So the issue stays hidden, quietly slowing progress, stalling their learning, and draining your bottom line.
Before long, graduates lose confidence, disengage, and start looking elsewhere.
Sink-or-swim isn’t a learning strategy—nor a business one.
And the hard truth about mentorship? Without structure, it’s hit-or-miss.
But there is good news!
The solution is simpler than you think.
Stop leaving graduate success to chance.
Invest in a structured development program that accelerates learning—turning your graduate hires into confident, capable, and value-adding employees, faster.
Looped thinking, unoriginal ideas, and band-aid solutions
Here's the thing about the first thought that comes to mind - it's the same first thought everyone else has. So it's not creative, it's not innovative, and the chances of it working - especially in the long term - are slim.
We limit our thinking to what's already there, to our ongoing status quo.
It's hard to imagine something new. What's outside the box is outside the box for a reason, and breaking the cycle takes some effort...
But there is good news!
You already have the answer —and we can help uncover it.
Stop settling for band-aid solutions and mundane ideas
Invest in building innovation capabilities to not only tackle immediate challenges but also trigger positive ripple effects across your entire ecosystem.
And here's the cherry on top: your people will feel more connected, engaged, challenged, and valued—the kind of employees who stick around.

Methods in Action
Behind every breakthrough lies a creative process that challenges the norm, and that’s exactly what our Transdisciplinary Framework delivers.
Everything we do, from consultancy and graduate programs to tailored workshops, is rooted in transdisciplinary thinking—an approach that integrates proven techniques from multiple fields to unlock the capacity for innovation and creative problem-solving.Here are some real-world examples of the methods that make our framework so effective.

Ferrari Hits the ICU: F1 advances Medicine

Method
Adjacent Possibilities involves borrowing ideas from unrelated fields to innovate or solve challenges.
Challenge
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children needed to improve patient safety during the critical handover from operating theatre to ICU, which was typically chaotic and dangerous.
How they used the method
Doctors noticed similarities between Formula 1 pit stops and the complex operating theatre-to-ICU transfers, which involve multiple medical staff, detaching and reattaching tubes, and conveying critical patient information. To refine this process, they turned to the Ferrari Formula 1 team, known for their exceptional precision, speed, and coordination.
Results
Within a year, technical errors and information handover mistakes were nearly halved, significantly improving patient safety and saving lives.
The Beak Tweak: Natures Solution to a Sonic Boom

Product Design Through Biomimicry
Method
Biomimicry involves replicating strategies or designs observed in nature to solve human challenges.
Challenge
The Shinkansen bullet train produced a loud "boom" when exiting tunnels due to high-speed air pressure waves, disturbing nearby communities. Engineers needed a solution to reduce noise without sacrificing speed or energy efficiency.
How they used the method
The engineers redesigned the train’s nose, inspired by the kingfisher bird's streamlined beak, which allows it to dive into water with minimal splash and disturbance. This principle of smooth transitions between two mediums provided the key to addressing the aerodynamic disruptions and noise caused by high-speed trains exiting tunnels.
Results
The new design eliminated tunnel booms, increased the train's speed by 10%, and reduced energy use by 15%, creating a quieter, faster, and more environmentally sustainable rail system.
Ants Lead the Way: Nature-Inspired Logistics

Strategy Through Biomimicry
Method
Biomimicry involves replicating strategies or designs observed in nature to solve human challenges.
Challenge
Logistics companies needed to optimise travel routes to meet growing demand while managing constraints like delivery windows, multiple stops, and vehicle capacity.
How they used the method
Inspired by the behaviour of ants, which lay pheromone trails to mark the most efficient paths to food, engineers developed the Ant Colony Optimization algorithm to identify the most effective routes for delivery and logistics optimisation.
Results
Significant improvements in efficiency, including reduced fuel consumption and faster delivery times. E-commerce companies also benefited from the algorithm, streamlining their storage and packing processes, cutting costs and boosting profitability.
The Art of Surgery: Drawing Complex Judgements

Method
Rich Pictures involves drawing the challenge to explore complex systems, relationships, and dynamics. It allow individuals to capture complexity, uncover hidden aspects of situations, and express ideas or emotions that may not surface in verbal descriptions.
Challenge
Researchers wanted to identify all the factors that influence surgeons’ judgment and decision-making during challenging operations. Interviews often reduced these situations to simplified procedural steps, but the researchers sought a deeper, more nuanced understanding of the complexities involved.
How they used the method
Surgeons were asked to draw pictures of challenging situations and explain them to researchers. These explanations revealed critical insights: one surgeon highlighted the unspoken role of trust between the surgeon and resident, while another noted how conflicts, like bickering between the anesthetist and second assistant, impacted the operation's mood. In one instance, the unexpected fainting of a team member helped refocus the team, illustrating how people dynamics shaped the outcome.
Results
Researchers discovered how non-technical factors like trust, team relationships, and emotional pressures shape surgical judgment and outcomes. Surgeons found that Rich Pictures enabled them to reflect more deeply on the operation and uncover new learnings to be applied to future complex situations.
Lucrative Leftovers: Double Win for Alternative Proteins

Method
Futures Wheel is a tool for exploring the possible ripple effects of a future scenario. By mapping out both positive and negative first, second and third-level consequences, it helps identify challenges, opportunities, and practical steps to take now to shape a better outcome.
Challenge
Industry leaders imagined a future where alternative proteins make up 10% of global meat, egg, and dairy sales by 2035. They wanted to understand how this shift might impact the use of leftover parts, or "sidestreams," from plant protein production, such as starch and fiber fractions.
How they used the method
Using the Futures Wheel, they uncovered two key paths for sidestreams. On the downside, these leftovers could be sold as cheap animal feed, potentially increasing antibiotic use due to poor digestibility and unintentionally supporting the animal agriculture industry, which undermines the sustainability goals of alternative proteins. On the upside, sidestreams could be repurposed for sustainable uses, like fermentation feedstocks, biomaterials, or bioenergy, creating valuable new markets.
Results
Investment in research and development was redirected towards enhancing sidestream processing for industrial applications and creating forecasting tools to optimise availability. Strategic partnerships with bioenergy and biomaterials industries were pursued to scale solutions. Examples like PURIS, which uses pea starch for animal-free gummy candies, and Take Two Foods, which produces barley milk from brewing leftovers, highlight the untapped value of sidestreams. Scaling these innovations can support farmers in adopting sustainable crops while ensuring the alternative protein industry drives meaningful environmental and economic impacts.
From Space Odyssey to Siri: Fiction-Inspired Innovation

Method
Speculative fiction provides a creative stimulus to envision future needs, technologies, and societal changes. By exploring hypothetical scenarios, it inspires innovation and offers insights to prepare for, design, and shape the future in various fields.
Challenge
A chocolate company wanted to ensure their business stayed relevant in a rapidly changing future. Meanwhile, NATO needed to anticipate catastrophic scenarios to develop military strategies and prepare well in advance.
How they used the method
Both organisations utilised tailored future world scenarios. The chocolate company narrative envisioned consumers virtually touring factories, observing sustainable an ethical supply chain practices, and 3D-printing personalised chocolate at home. NATO explored scenarios like a hacked smart gun causing a near-massacre, enabling them to anticipate technological risks and strengthen strategic foresight.
Historical Examples
Examples of speculative fiction influencing real-world innovations include 2001: A Space Odyssey influencing real-world AI research and ethical considerations; video calling and home robots in the cartoon The Jetsons; Dick Tracy's radio wristwatch inspiring Martin Cooper’s invention of the mobile phone.
Less Brick, More Brunt: Adding value by Substraction

Method
Subtraction involves solving problems by removing elements rather than adding them. Humans tend to add because it feels more tangible, but subtraction often reveals simpler and more efficient solutions.
Challenge
Traditional solid building blocks were heavy, expensive to produce and transport, and lacked effective insulation. A better design was needed to address these limitations without compromising strength.
How they used the method
Architect Anna Keichline removed excess material from building blocks, creating a hollow design that concentrated load-bearing on the outer edges. This approach reduced weight while maintaining durability.
Results
Keichline’s hollow K-brick was lighter, cheaper to transport, and provided better insulation due to air voids. This innovation revolutionised construction, offering a practical, efficient, and widely adopted solution.
Designing for the Haters: Nintendo Wii's Origin Story

Method
Extremes involves focusing on outliers - extreme conditions, users, or scenarios - as a creative stimulus. These "extreme" perspectives push boundaries, inspiring innovative solutions that often resonate widely.
Challenge
Nintendo wanted to create a new gaming system that stood out in the competitive market.
How they used the method
Instead of focusing on their target audience, Nintendo turned to the opposite: people who hated gaming. Through interviews they identified key frustrations—traditional gaming systems were too complicated, controllers were difficult to use, and graphics were overwhelming.
Results
Using this feedback, Nintendo designed the Wii, featuring a simplified interface, graphics, and a motion-based controller that mimicked real-life movements, eliminating barriers that discouraged non-gamers. The Wii became the fifth best-selling game console ever and prompted competitors like Xbox Kinect and PlayStation Move to emulate its groundbreaking approach.
How Pigeon Poop Inspired a Culinary Rebellion

Method
Breaking the rules involves interrogating established norms and deliberately breaking some of the golden rules to generate novel solutions.
Challenge
Chef Massimo Bottura sought to evolve classic Modenese cuisine but faced resistance from those who valued tradition.
How they used the method
An art installation of pigeons pooping on classic works of art resonated with Bottura. He realised he had to take a similarly defiant and provocative stance against classic Italian cuisine. Embracing rebellion, he broke culinary rules, targeting traditional dishes and making them strikingly unconventional.
Crunchy Part of Lasagna is a prime example. By focusing solely on the crispy edge, a kid's favourite, he challenged the norm of soft, layered textures. He also defied the formality of fine dining, forcing diners to embrace their inner child and appreciate the imperfect beauty of this simple, nostalgic element.
With an artist's eye and a rebel's heart, Bottura elevates his cuisine to a form of high art. Dishes like Five Ages of Parmigiano Reggiano and Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart are immersive experiences, blending culinary technique with artistic expression, creating unforgettable dining experiences.
Results
Bottura's unconventional approach ignited conversations and sparked debate, but eventually gained recognition and acclaim. His restaurant, Osteria Francescana, rose to international prominence, earning three Michelin stars and a top ranking on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
